Highlights from the Season

Opening Night Magic
The season began with sunshine, surprise guests, and a horn trio featuring six horns! The Mayor of Aberystwyth joined the crowd, and the evening ended with a golden sunset and ice cream from PD’s.

Quirky Performances
From The Ugly Duckling (complete with duck impressions by band leader Graham) to a kazoo-filled Chicken Run, the band embraced the whimsical with flair.

Solo Spotlights
Ellie West’s moving cornet solos on David of the White Rock and Share My Yoke were standout moments, alongside Graham Showell’s tenor horn rendition of Over the Rainbow.

Pop Meets Brass
The band gave bold, brassy treatments to hits like YMCA, Mr Blue Sky, Bad Guy, and All My Loving (with a cheeky Cha Cha Cha twist).

Unexpected Surprises
A Chinook fly-by, interpretive conducting, and even the discovery of bandstand “air conditioning” added to the season’s charm.

Final Notes
From heartfelt duets to brassy chaos, the Aberystwyth Silver Band’s summer season was a celebration of music, community, and seaside joy. Whether you danced, sang along, or simply soaked up the sunset, thank you for being part of it.
Hopefully see you next summer — same time, same prom, same brass energy.
