22-July-2008
Constitution Hill
7.30p.m. - 9.30p.m.
The Seindorf Arian Aberystwyth
Silver Band played on
Constitution to the resident
captive audience of Aberystwyth
below during the evening of
Tuesday July 22nd
2008.
The band was transported from
the nearby Aberystwyth promenade
to the top of Constitution hill
by the funicular railway. The
railway was opened with great
ceremony in 1896 by Princess
Alexandra.
The cliff railway station stands
opposite the house once occupied
by the famous Sir Walford
Davies, the composer of the
equally famous RAF March and
the hymn ‘Solemn melody’ which
is played during every
remembrance day at Whitehall.
During the evening the band
entertained visitors outside the
hill top restaurant on a fine
still evening until dusk with
the glorious backdrop of
Aberystwyth and Cardigan Bay and
the rolling hills of Ceredigion
disappearing into the distance.
Music Played:
Belford’s Carnival march
Brass Band Boogie
