The Aberystwyth Silver Band is
delighted to announce the
appointment of their new Musical
Director, Mr. Geraint Evans.
Geraint hails from a family
linked with music locally. He
began his musical training by
enrolling as a musician with the
Irish Guards military band in
London, spending the early part
of his career in their ranks as
a Trombone player.
Following his duty as a
guardsman he continued in
professional music as a
peripatetic brass tutor in local

Aber Silver Band has some big
shoes to fill
Aberystwyth Silver Band is
searching for a new musical
director after popular
bandmaster Richard Crompton led
his last concert last week at
the Holy Trinity Church.
Richard had
to step down from his post after
seven years due to increasing
work pressures and leaves some
fairly big shoes to fill.
He bowed out
to a rapturous applause at his
last concert, when the band
teamed up with The Elizabethan
Madrigal Singers.
Richard has
been an extremely popular figure
in the band and has been a key
player in linking the band with
the town.
The band
therefore would like to invite
applications for the position of
Musical Director.
The band is seeking someone who
has experience of leading a
musical group preferably with a
brass banding background, and it
is important that the individual
be committed to the band and to
improving the band’s standard of
playing.
For further details
contact the Band’s Chairman, Peter
Henley on 01970 828173.
